Another Poetry Submission!

A haiku submitted by Stacy L.

sitting quietly
the tabby suspects nothing
then the vacuum--zoom!

Ella: Haiku, so I guess that's me. All right, let's take a look...well, the syllables are on, so no scratches there, but come on--"vacuum--zoom!" It's a haiku, not a haikartoon. Yeah, yeah, so your tabby's afraid of the vacuum, the big baby. Sure, the things are irritating, but at least have the dignity to saunter away instead of scram.

Sashimi: But vacuums are scary! I like this one Ella.

Ella: Tough break, kid. I'm shredding.

Sushi: I'm just not sure I like the shift in perspective here. The first two lines are about the cat. "Then the vacuum--zoom!" I don't know, it just seems like something's missing. The tabby suspects nothing, then the vacuum...appears? Growls? Yes, I think I'd rather it stayed with the vaccum instead of switching back to the cat for the last syllable.

Ella: Well, Stacy, two lines out of three isn't bad for a human.

[Rumbling cacophany of rips and growls]

Sashimi: Yummy paper strips! Attack!
