Holiday jeer

Humom lit the lights today,
But not like those nearby;
Those other folks have red and green
And white to light the sky.

Humom's lights do have green too,
But red and white they don't.
Hers are purple, orange and end
in pumpkins and in ghosts.

I guess our mom's a wacky breed.
Instead of Christmas cheer
Or Chanukah, or Kwanzaa lights
She fills her days and all her nights
With holiday long past by rights:
A Jack-o-Lantern's leer.

Okay, so the rhyme and scansion's a little forced, but you get the point. I don't care. It's all true.
